This project consisted of the installation of an interactive mural that displays the Department of Physic’s history in a timeline through graphics and multimedia content made available through QR codes. The timeline is also available on a website and features the Department’s milestones.

The Department of Physics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais is one of the top departments in the country dedicated to Experimental Physics, Nuclear Energy Research, Nanoscience and Optics. Since its inception in the 1960’s, faculty, students, and alumni have occupied highly ranking positions in government agencies and public and private research institutions,  bringing relevant contributions to the field of Physics in Brazil. This project consisted of the installation of an interactive mural that displays the Department’s history in a timeline. This historical timeline consists of texts, images, and graphics that present the most important milestones in the history of the department. QR codes were used to create another informational layer to the physical installation. When scanned with a smartphone, the participant accesses videos and interactive content. A full online version of the timeline was also made available at the department’s website.
